It was a very busy Fall and Winter as my new book 'Rock Seen' was released. Promoting the book, I traveled to London, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, even the Sundance Film Festival...and still had time to see friends play in New York! Check out all the action below....


Nov. 17 - London - Huey Morgan of the Fun Lovin' Criminals interviewed me about my book at BBC Radio.

Nov. 19 - London - I got to catch up with my old friend, bassist Tony Garnier, after he played in the Bob Dylan show at HMV Hammersmith Apollo.

Nov. 28 - Los Angeles - After the screening of the Don Letts documentary 'Rock 'N' Roll Exposed - the Photography of Bob Gruen' at the EchoPlex, I had a Q & A with film promoter Doug Kluthe.

I visited Linda Ramone and JD King at home in Los Angeles.

And I stopped by to visit with my old friend BP Fallon in Los Angeles and sat out a furious windstorm in the safe comfort of his Laurel Canyon cabin.

In the calm before the crowded opening of my exhibition at the Fahey/Klein Gallery, David Fahey and I check out the display.

Dec. 1 - Los Angeles - After the opening of my exhibition I went to see Iggy Pop at the Hollywood Palladium.

Dec. 2 - Back in New York for one night, I finally got to take photos for Richard Lewis, seen here backstage at Caroline's Club.

Dec. 2 - New York - Richard Lewis performing on stage at Caroline's. We've been friends for years but this is the first time I shot his show.

Dec 3. - Buenos Aires, Argentina - Off to Buenos Aires, to attend the opening of my exhibition at the Centro Cultural Borges Gallery.

The exhibit was very large and included a 'Teenage Bedroom' section which was very popular.

Dec. 6 - I gave a talk and showed my exhibit to students of PH 15 program for teenagers run by the American Embassy.

Thank you to the Centro Cultural Borges Gallery in Buenos Aires, for putting together such a good exhibition!

American Ambassador Vilma Martinez greeted me at her office in Buenos Aires, and we had a warm talk.

Dec. 7 - On opening night of my exhibit I was surrounded by fans asking for autographs.

It felt very good to have so many people appreciate my work.

Dec. 7 - Famed American rock guitarplayer Jimmy Ripp took a photo with me at the opening Party.

Dec. 18 - New York - My son Kris Gruen performed at The Treehouse at 2A, and they projected his live image on the wall of the buildings across the street!

Dec. 15 - Jesse Malin got ready backstage for his performance at Irving Plaza for the Don Hill Memorial concert.

Dec. 15 - Michael H & Willie Nile rocked out at Irving Plaza for the Don Hill Memorial concert.

Dec. 15 - David Johansen led the big finale which included Bebe Buell, and the Uptown Horns and Trigger, who get a very big Thank You! for organizing the Don Hill Memorial concert.

Jan. 11 - Backstage at BB King's Club in Times Square I got a shot of Robert Gordon with his mom.

Jan. 20 - Alejandro Escovedo gave a very interesting show at the City Winery where he was interviewed every few songs by Dave Marsh and Alejandro told the stories behind the songs.

Jan. 9 - We had dinner with Pretenders drummer Martin Chambers at La Ripaille French restaurant and he told us about renovating his new house.

Jan. 23 - Utah - Sundance Film Festival - Famous Toby Mamis and Garland Jeffreys came to see my booksigning at Dolly's book store on Main Street in Park City.

Jan. 25 - Utah - Presumed lost but now found, singer/songwriter, Rodriguez, who hadn't performed since the late '60's played at BMI's Sundance Snowball music showcase to promote the movie about his amazing revival.

Jan. 25 - Folk Rock legend, Donovan, headlining at BMI's Sundance Snowball music showcase.

Jan. 25 - I was very impressed by the new band, Dawes, at BMI's Sundance Snowball music showcase.

Jan. 23 - Paul McCartney's son James McCartney played several times at the ASCAP Music Cafe during the Sundance Film Festival.

The real reason I go to the Sundance Film Festival is so I can go skiing with Toby Mamis at Deer Valley in Park City, UT.

Feb. 7 - New York - Miss Guy, Debbie Harry, & Sean Pierce of the Toilet Boys at WiP, get ready to play for the Dropout party.
