Jan 22 - Ed Sanders and the Fugs played at St. Ann's Warehouse in a tribute/Benefit for original Fug founder Tuli Kupferberg.

Jan 19 - Patti Smith gave a reading of her new book "Just Kids" at the Barnes & Noble West 17th Street store. It's a great story of her coming to New York and living with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe when they were both 'just kids'.

Jan 21 - Bill Flanagan read from his new book 'Evening's Empire' and was interviewed by Steve Lillywhite at the Barnes & Noble West 66th Street store. One of the best readings I've been to!

Jan 24 - At the Sundance Film Festival I saw 'The Runaways' starring Riley Keough, Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning seen above at the after-party with Joan Jett. This is a 'must see' rock film!...I also saw 'Nowhere Boy' a wonderful film about John Lennon's teenage years in Liverpool.

Feb 11 - Axl Rose debuted his new band in New York at the John Varvatos store in the old CBGB space. After keeping the audience waiting a long 2 hours he finally played a very long rockin' set.

Feb 16 - Yoko Ono and her son Sean Lennon brought their new band to the Brooklyn Academy of Music to play songs from their new album 'Between My Head and the Sky'.

Bette Midler joined Yoko's show to sing 'I'm Your Angel' from Yoko's 1973 album ' Approximately Infinite Universe'. Also apearing in the show were Paul Simon and his son Harper, the Scissor Sisters, Sonic Youth and Justin Bond.

Yoko and Sean have been getting great reviews for the new album and have been playing shows around the world for a year or more.

The highlight of the night was when Eric Clapton came onstage with drummer Jim Keltner and bass player Klaus Voorman for a reunion of the original 'Plastic Ono Band'.

Feb - March - Jesse Malin and his 'St. Marks Social' band played a series of shows at his club, the Bowery Electric, to introduce his new CD 'Love it to Life'.

Each week different friends joined Jesse and the band onstage. On March 4th it was Eugene Hütz of the band 'Golgol Bordello'. |

On March 11 Moby joined Jesse to play guitar onstage for the sold-out crowd.

Backstage after Jesse's show Green Day's Billie Joe gave Jimmy Gestapo a big hug for doing such a fine job as guest DJ.
