Sao Paulo, Brazil – May 2007 – I had a great time on my trip to Sao Paulo to oversee the installation of my photos at FAAP. I went to some rock clubs and met people on the scene there. I felt very comfortable in Sao Paulo and many times I was reminded of the feeling of New York in the 1970’s when things were more DIY and people believed in themselves and had fun.

From my birthday party in the fall to a great exhibition opening in the Spring, it’s been a very good few months filled with great times: Billie Joe Armstrong and Debbie Harry, Lez Zeppelin, Patti Smith, The Sundance Festival (for skiing), then to LA to photograph Gene Simmons, and to Austin for SXSW and ending with an opening at Pop International Galleries with Jim Jarmusch and Allison Mosshart in New York…see below.
I had an amazing trip in June. Starting out with a week in Buenos Aires where my book ‘John Lennon: The New York Years’ was published in a Spanish edition and celebrated with a huge exhibition. I went to Los Angeles to give a talk at the Annenberg Space for Photography as part of the ‘Who Shot Rock & Roll’ exhibit and was the guest of honor at a private party, then met up with Steven Tyler before heading back home for more excitement… from the final night at legendary Kenny’s Castaways, to seeing Jacob Dylan at the former site of CBGB – and at long last I got to see ‘The French Elvis’ Johnny Hallyday… read more →
