Aug 27 – Liverpool, England –  I was in Liverpool for the opening of a permanent exhibition of my photos at the Beatles Story Museum. Also unveiled was a piano used by John Lennon that had just arrived from New York. Here at the press conference I’m with May Pang, Museum director Martin King, and John Lennon’s half sister Julia Baird.

September 22 - NYC - Jeffrey Deitch, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein and me during the opening of the Blondie 40th Anniversary exhibit at the Chelsea Hotel Gallery. The show, curated by Jeffrey, includes photos by Chris and myself, David Godlis, Roberta Bayley, Bobby Grossman, Mick Rock, Annie Liebowitz and Robert Mapplethorpe.

Sept 16 - NYC - Sean, Yoko, Cynthia & Julian Lennon all came to see an exhibition of Julian's photographs at the Morrison Hotel Gallery on the Bowery. It was the first time all four were together in public, and everyone had a good time looking at Julian's great photos.

  • Bob Gruen is one of the most well known and respected photographers in Rock and Roll. By the mid ’70s he was already regarded as one of the foremost documenters of the scene working with major attractions such as John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Kiss etc., and also covering the emerging New Wave and Punk bands including The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones & Blondie.
