As the Ike and Tina Turner band was finishing their show at the Honka Monka club in Queens, NY, Tina was dancing offstage as a strobe light flashed. I set my camera for a one second exposure and captured this multiple image of Tina Turner in action.

Oct 23 - NYC - Coinciding with the release of my new book "New York Dolls - Photographs by Bob Gruen" all girl New York Dolls tribute band Prima Ballerina led by Tammy Faye Starlight played at my birthday party at the R Bar in New York. The highlight of the night came when original New York Doll, Sylvain Sylvain, joined them onstage and played the Dolls hit 'Trash'.

  • Bob Gruen is one of the most well known and respected photographers in Rock and Roll. By the mid ’70s he was already regarded as one of the foremost documenters of the scene working with major attractions such as John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Kiss etc., and also covering the emerging New Wave and Punk bands including The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones & Blondie.
