I was in Paris this week and went to see Ike Turner at the Lionel Hampton Lounge in Le Méridien Hotel. He did one of the best sets I’ve seen him do in years, playing his “Rocket 88”, the first ever Rock & Roll song. He also did a great blues version of Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed” as well as the Jazz number “Mercy,Mercy,Mercy”.
