I deeply miss my friend Joe Strummer. He was the strongest of men, a real inspirational leader, a guy who never seemed to tire of listening to people and talking to them, learning and teaching all the time. He had true compassion for everyone he met. He was the nicest and also the most fun loving person I’ve known.
From my birthday party in the fall to a great exhibition opening in the Spring, it’s been a very good few months filled with great times: Billie Joe Armstrong and Debbie Harry, Lez Zeppelin, Patti Smith, The Sundance Festival (for skiing), then to LA to photograph Gene Simmons, and to Austin for SXSW and ending with an opening at Pop International Galleries with Jim Jarmusch and Allison Mosshart in New York…see below.
I went to Los Angeles to give a talk at the Annenberg Space for Photography as part of the ‘Who Shot Rock & Roll’ exhibit and was the guest of honor at a private party, then met up with Steven Tyler before heading back home for more excitement… from the final night at legendary Kenny’s Castaways, to seeing Jacob Dylan at the former site of CBGB – and at long last I got to see ‘The French Elvis’ Johnny Hallyday… read more →
