Feb 26 - NYC - Billie Joe starred in the American Idiot play in January and February as St. Jimmy. It was really great to see Billie Joe in a dramatic role. He may come back to the show in April.

August 23 - NYC - Ozzy Osbourne, at the Imagine circle in Central Park, filmed a video tribute to John Lennon to go with his recording of Lennon's song 'How'.

March 7 - NYC - Keith Richard's daughters Alexandra and Theodora. were the DJ's at the party to open an exhibition of Beatles and Rolling Stones photos by their '60's U.S. Tour Manager Bob Bonis at the Not Fade Away Gallery in New York.

Oct 23 - NYC - Coinciding with the release of my new book "New York Dolls - Photographs by Bob Gruen" all girl New York Dolls tribute band Prima Ballerina led by Tammy Faye Starlight played at my birthday party at the R Bar in New York. The highlight of the night came when original New York Doll, Sylvain Sylvain, joined them onstage and played the Dolls hit 'Trash'.

Nov 16 - NYC - This is the centerpiece of a video for Joe Strummer's version of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" from Joe's new Mescaleros album "Streetcore". The video, directed by Josh Cheuse shows artists Dr. Revolt and Zephyr creating this mural on the wall of the Niagara Bar in the East Village, while many of Joe's well known friends and local neighbors watch.

Oct 27 - NYC - Alice Cooper came to New York to inspire us to dress up and act out for Halloween. Instead of the large theatrical props for which he's famous, Alice had a hard rockin' band and played a set full of hits (he has a lot of them). He showed the cheering sold out audience that he's a master of mayhem.

July 11 - NYC - Chris Robinson opened the show at Central Park's Summerstage July 11 and the fans cheered as he kept playing through a thunderstorm. His beautiful wife Kate Hudson was there with him, lookin' good and expecting their baby next January.

Feb 18 - NYC - Yoko Ono celebrated her 70th birthday at a great party thrown for her by her son Sean. She danced all night with friends (like Kate Pierson and Fred Schneider of the B-52's seen above)

May 22 - Cuba - The John Lennon sculpture in Havana is impressive. It was made by Cuban Artist José Villa. Fidel Castro and Ricardo Alarcon, President of the Cuban Parliament were part of the unveiling ceremony held in December 2000. "This place will always be a testimonial to struggle, a summoning to humanism. It will also be a permanent homage to a generation that wanted to transform the world, and to the rebellious spirit, innovative, of the artist who helped forge that generation and at the same time is one of its most authentic symbols", said Alarcon at the ceremony.
